YWAM's Statement of Purpose

Youth With A Mission is an international movement of Christians from many denominations dedicated to presenting Jesus Christ personally to the generation, to mobilize as many as possible to help in this task, and to train and equip believers for their part in fulfilling the Great Commission. As citizens of God’s kingdom, we are called to love, worship, obey our Lord, to love and serve His body in the church, and to present the whole Gospel, for the whole man, throughout the whole world.

We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and authoritative word, revealing that Jesus Christ is God’s son; that people are created in God’s image; that He created us to have eternal life through Jesus Christ. Although all people have sinned and come short of God’s glory, God has made salvation possible through Christ’s death on the cross and his resurrection. Repentance, faith, love and obedience are fitting responses to God’s initiative of grace towards us. The Holy Spirit’s power is demonstrated in and through us with spiritual gifts and fruit for the accomplishment of  Christ’s last commandment, “… Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

Goals for Mission Adventures

  • To develop a growing intimate relationship with Jesus Christ

  • To be an example to other Christians by our love, humility and servant spirit

  • To see lost souls brought into the Kingdom of God through evangelism and mercy ministries

  • To learn to minister and to function as a team: John 17

  • To recognize and release potential teachers/leaders into their gifting

  • To have lasting friendships

Quiet Time and Devotions

We can hear God’s voice in several ways. The most infallible source is God’s written Word. We are called to meditate on His Word every day. We are to use the Bible as a guide for our daily activities. A day should not go by without our focus being on Him.

Throughout MA you will be encouraged to read God’s Word several times through the course of the day. There will be times you’ll be asked to meditate on a given verse, interpret it and determine how it relates to the current teaching. Other times you will find that God will be calling you to meet with Him individually in a special place so He can speak to you and you can minister to Him. Come expecting God to speak to you!

As you continue through your school year, continue to make it a habit to meet with the Lord and spend quality time with Him every day. We don’t want you to start “getting into God” a week before boot camp. We want you to be following after God and focusing on Him even now. We want you to get the most out of Mission Adventures which means you need to be striving after God and digging in to receive what He has for you right now. MA can be fun, you enjoy seeing all  your friends and meeting new ones, but it goes a step beyond that, “What does God want from me during this time?” We want you to come expecting God to do new things in you, give you a vision, show you His plans for your life, and ways He will desires to use you. Please get serious about this summer so you can receive all that God has in store for you.

“Blessed are they who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart.” (Psalm 119:2)

”Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” (Psalm119:108)

Training

In order to reach our generation, we have found that performing arts is a very effective tool to share the gospel. With that in mind, the outreach prep will include opportunities to use your talents in music, drama, dance, and speaking. Everyone will be expected to participate and work with the staff to coordinate an excellent program to reach others. We don’t expect perfection, but that everyone tries their hardest to do an excellent job for God’s glory.

We will be sharing our testimonies one on one and to groups so we want you to prepare by writing your testimony and being ready to share as the Lord opens the doors.

We will be teaching you how to make and use the wordless book and give you other tools to present the Gospel.

Outreach

Outreaches are targeted for churches, youth groups, parks, local communities and housing projects, inner-city ministries and homeless shelter ministries. You will be reaching out to the community through dramas, dances, testimonies, and evangelism that you are taught during the training. There will also be opportunities for you to share your personal testimony and/or something God is teaching you.

Relationships

While here at Mission Adventures we ask that you do not pursue special relationships (SR’s) with the opposite sex. During MA we want you to make friendship, be respectful to one another, and to have an enjoyable time with each other. We ask that there be no physical/personal contact between the opposite sex.

 Vehicle Safety

1. Boys and girls are not to sit next to each other on any trip.

2. Safety belts must be worn at all times.
